Granny Square

A granny square is a crochet motif that is often worked in rounds and is often used as a foundational shape for larger pieces. Granny squares can be made into clothing, blankets, and even three dimensional objects that are then stuffed. The most basic granny squares consist of groups of double-crochet alternated with chain stitches, and usually have three or four rows. However, there are literally thousands of variations on this pattern that can be found almost everywhere.
